Doing a short review of Golden Qor watercolour paints on Bockingford 425g NOT wc paper.
I bought the intro set containing 6 x 5 ml tubes. The paints come in a flimsy metal box set in a cheap looking plastic insert. Not much use once the tubes have been squeezed.
On a positive note the box is big enough to hold quite a few more tubes of paint.
My first impression of these paints is that they are very highly pigmented. They also flow reasonably well on wet paper.
One thing that I did find difficult was getting these paints to blend well on the wet paper. They have strange handling characteristics. They seem to behave more like inks than watercolours. I also noticed the colours that I had tended to stain the paper making them hard to lift off.
The flow of the paints was reasonably good and I didn't have a problem with hard edges.
All in all a reasonably good product well worth trying. Unfortunately, they are far more expensive than some other top brands. An 11 ml tube being twice the price of a 10 ml tube of Sennelier wc paint.
I picked up the intro set for £25 from Jackson's art supplies, which is a good buy whilst it lasts.
