I bought my first metal paint box a good few years ago on the basis that they were strong enough to take a few knocks.
Unfortunately I never took into account a real nuisance problem that might arise. That was rust.
There was something in some of the pigments that reacted with the metal clips and corroded them. Eventually it would flake off and fall into the paint.
Annoyingly this means that I have had to remove the paints and clean the boxes.
Recommendation - stick to using plastic pallets.
